Sony Thinks PSP Can Beat iPod

An executive VP of Sony Computer Entertainment of America conjectured that the Sony PSP would mount an attack on Apple's iPod as a way to sell music to consumers. Andrew House explains that PSP will be a huge presence and the 2 gigabyte capacity of the UMD disc format can be used for movies and content. I found the argument a bit weak as the PSP is a LOT larger than almost all MP3 players. It might take some share of the MP3 player business as the Treo has, but people simply aren't going to give up their iPods even if they do buy a PSP. The memory stick pricing alone kills the idea.
