Dell 2005FPW Supported Video Cards
Monitor Resolution Hz 640x480 120 800x600 120 1024x768 120 1152x864 120 1280x1024 120 1600x1200 85 1920x1080 75 1920x1200 75 1920x1440 75 2048x1536 60 I've looked at other ATI video cards and they all support these same resolutions. How do you get it to display 1680x1050? If I'm not going to be able to run my card at this resolution then can someone recommend a card? I was looking at the GeForce 6600GT. |

I think your question has been answered in another thread, but the 6600GT cards are very good, and in my opinion (unless you want the latest and the best) very good value. They're only just out performed in most games by the 6800 (depending on the particular type, obviously), but in Doom 3 it seems that the 6600GT out performs most X800 cards... and they're a decent mid-range price too. I'm considering an upgrade myself.
This is a good review on tomshardware.com as I remember. Edit: Here you go, I even went and found it. Can't say fairer than that. http://www20.graphics.tomshardware.c...404/index.html |

The X800 XL is a good bargain, it's cheaper than the 6800GT, X800XT and X850XT, pretty silent, single slot
And the display quality is amazing. Especially over DVI. It makes my Dell 2005FPW display look amazing But if you play a lot of Doom or use Linux, then the NVidia cards are your best bet. They run circles around the ATI cards in Doom and have much better Linux drivers I will be getting the Dell 2405FPW soon, hopefully when the NVidia G70 or the ATI R520 cards come out, we'll be able to do gaming in 1920x1200 resolution

or just get an SLI system, and you'll be able to run games at those resolutions!!! I've read that you can run Doom3 on the Highest settings using 2 6800 ultra video cards!!! I am about to complete my SLI rig with 2 6800 ultras, so I will try to verify that once everything is together!! I've got both cards, and the mobo, but i need to install a new PSU to supply those power hungry 6800's!!

any other cards?
Any other video cards you guys would recommend for the Dell 2005fpw?
I don't need a high end card but something that would allow for the max resolution on it. Preferrably NVIDIA cards... |

I ended up buying the 6600GT and I think it works great. However, the 6800 has now come down in price and you can buy one for about $200 and it has twice the memory bandwidth. I would probably recommend going with one of the many versions of the Nvidia 6800.
