I've never read such laughable ignorant claptrap in all my life. I particularly loved this rubbish from hometheaterblog. Are you ready for this?

the company began a campaign of branding and word association that remains with them to this day. A few examples of words that have become synonymous with Bose are: Direct Reflecting, Acoustimass, and Waveguide.
So you people obviously have heard of the VW 'Golf', the 'Big Mac' burger, and I suppose Steve Jobs is happy with his best selling MP3 player, to be called .... the MP3 player.

It's not Bose marketing, but the ignorance of such rubbish like this that make me laugh.

Quote:
Speaking of frequency response, Bose doesn’t publish frequency responses for their consumer products. Dr. Amar Bose was quoted as saying “looking at frequency responses on paper and charts doesn’t really matter – it boils down to how it sounds to people”.

Here’s a better explanation for why we should all listen to our ears, instead if reading graphs. Not in my words

Quote:
In my first ten or so years in audio I use to rely on frequency response and graphs for everything, amps, speakers, players and headphones. It's usually one of the first things I look at when reading audio magazines. After a few runs to listening rooms I realized that all the specs don't mater as much as what you hear with your own ears. The proof is in yourself, not the specs or the reviewer. Some equipment just synergize with a persons taste better than others. I think that's the main thing.
If you choose to believe such rubbish from the likes of hometheaterblog, then I feel so sorry for you. Such people just don't have a clue.

I can't stop laughing at that one ...

coming from an audio background myself, i have to say i have no particular affiliation with Bose. if I'm honest I've never heard many of the Bose products, but i have heard some. They don't do cinema very well, all that 5.1 rubbish I've never bought into anyway. In straight stereo, they impressed me more than i thought they would. Yes you could do better for the money (that's a common anti Bose Shout) but for the money, there's always another choice. All those ipod docking systems, micro & mini systems, with the equivalent money you could always buy yourself a better separates system, but that's missing the whole point. people have different needs and situations to go by. I bought 2 sub woofers when i lived in a flat with an 70+ year old lady living beneath me. Wise choice or not? much as i love the feeling of owning a £4,000 system, in practical terms, I never got to use it to it's full potential, so it was a waste of good money.

Would i spend £400 on the B&W zeppelin, or do i think money could be better spent on a £200 amp and £200 speakers? do i want wires, cables everywhere (no I don't)?

Why i left the industry after many years, was all the marketing hype and spin from all manufacturers, from Arcam to whoever, from systems for a few hundred to systems that cost more than of my house, I've heard many systems. I don't think there's any 'company' that doesn't market their products with a bit of bull, from perfume, to cars. I don't think hype and spin is a singular issue for Bose, and anyone spurting such rubbish has either been living in a cave all their life, sheltered from the influence of anything, vastly ignorant or both.
