How much to you spend on games a year? Hardware and software?

I typically buy 6 games a year. That's $300.

Hardware wise I probably average 1 new console every 2 years.

Back in the late 1980s, I should to buy more than 1 game a month. And that was when I had no money. LOL.

I spent an average of $191 per month in software for the year 2004. This doesn't include new system purchases or computer hardware. I usually pick up all new consoles on launch. I do constant minor computer upgrades with a major one every 2-3 years. I use to buy a new video card every year but that's been sliding due to the rapid increase in video card prices.

Only $115 per month for 2005 so far (covering months 1-9). I attribute the drop in expenditure due to the 276 hrs I've invested in Guild Wars. I just don't have much time to play other stuff these days.

yeah, my average gaming expenditure has gone WAAAAY down since world of warcraft came out. i've maybe only bought 2 or 3 games in the 10 months or so it's been out. No time for any other games. of course, i've been paying $13 a month to play the game, but when your really think about it, that's less than 50 cents a day. so i have one less soda every day and i've paid for my WoW subscription.

I actually don't spend all that much on games. I have games ring with friends. We tend to buy a game, play and complete, and then swap games. It's way cheaper, and I found that once I've finished a game (or played for a few months) I probably never pick it up again. Obvious execptions like HL2 which I play on-line, and it's not one you can swap easily. So my annual spending on games is probably really low. £50 - £100. My money tends to go on the hardware. I upgrade my PC regularly, and I tend to pick up consoles in the Xmas sales... So average Annual spend on hardware is about £500... roughly.

The last game I bought was Crazi Taxi for $2.50 on Ebay. Before that it was Microsoft Train Simulator for $30 some odd dollars. Worse game I ever bought due to stability issues. Crashes within 10 minutes each time I played. Graphics were beautiful but I didn't get to play it long enough. Before that it was Grand Theft Auto 3 for PC. This game was extremely fun and although I had to use the cheat codes to finish it in a timely manner it was still a hoot to play. Worth the $50 I spent on it.

With Counterstrike available for free there isn't much need for me to play other games.

Civ IV is calling my name, but I am resisting.

I have no time in my life for it!
