I'm not sure how true it is, nor where I read it now, but I read somewhere that a NASA scientist has developed his own 500 megapixel camera. He apparently can only take one or two photos a day because of the amount of storage they require and writing them to a disc.

If it's true, it's pretty amazing stuff.

Edit: I said 500, but it's not, it's 1000 megapixels, and the story is here:
