I just received my XPS Gen 4 with 3.73 Extreme, 4 gig RAM, dual 10,000 rpm drives with two 2405's. I specifically order the Nividea 6800 GTO so I could run both monitors on DVI.
Dell sent the ATI Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition instead. I know it's a great card, but it only has one (1) DVI & one (1) VGA. I've got both panels running, but I'm pulling my hair out trying to match the panels via different connections. The VGA just doesn't get the blacks like the DVI.
MY QUESTIONS ARE:
Is it possible to match the monitors via different connections critcal enough for Video, Photoshop, etc.? Or, should I make Dell send me the card I ordered with two (2) DVI's?
Do they make a VGA to DVI adapter. I know they make the opposite. Even if they do, I can't image converting analog to digital at the same quality as true digital?
I researched the Radeon X850 XT Platinum via the internet and a CNET review stated it has dual DVI's. Obviously, Dell's version of this does not?
Also, is there anyway to get the Windows bottom icon tool bar on the second monitor simultaneously? It's kind of a drag opening everything on the 1st monitor and dragging what I want to the 2nd monitor?
It's kind of frustrating to buy the latest and greatest machine and have Dell randomly switch cards on me? Any input appreciated.
