People have some awesome computer, audio setups here. I'm just wondering what people do for a living to pay for all this?

I'm currently unemployed, but in previous lives I've been in strategy consulting, internet consulting, and a financial analyst.

I'm currently a full-time student and with in the next year or two I will be going for an MBA degree. I worked the past couple of years through paid internship and my side consulting job to be able to pull up the cash to build my studio.

I'm a firm believer hat the way I live on the inside is a true refection the person I am and not the BMW's and Rolex watches

What school do you attend? I'm a MCP. Right after I got it I was called for an interview -- so I think you would not have a problem finding a job, esp. with the CISCO certification. Just keep in mind that you will have to know your stuff when it's time for the interview. I would keep a portfolio handy on current and past projects you've completed.

Good Luck!

It'd be nice though to have a Rolex and a BMW. Lol.

I'm going to a school here in San Diego called Microskills. A good school that emphasises hands on experience. Each course i get a week of classroom instruction using industry standard course material, and then the next week we are in the lab doing all the stuff we talked about the week before. So far i've complete A+ core hardware, and i'm in the A+ OS class right now. I'm hoping to be able to find a good job!!!!!

I'm a digital imaging specialist for Whirlpool Corporation in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Been making a living in digital photography and Photoshop for about 11 years now, in ad agencies and photo studios. It's easy to have toys if you don't go on expensive vacations or drive a $36k car. I also don't have any kids so that helps a TON. *smiles*

Sr. Business Analyst for Toshiba.
Basically a process efficiency and systems expert.
I also develop application systems for users that put critical information at their fingertips in formats and functionality that they like. Typically Excel front ends with mouse click GUI driven by VBA and supported by SQL database back ends.

I am a law clerk with a tech degree. The 2005fpw was a bit treat for myself. It's definitely a luxury item. w/ the price, you can buy almost 1.5 19" LCDs or 2 17" LCDs. But hey, what's the extra $ when you will enjoy it for couple years to come. I doubt that there will be more technically advanced models that come near in price for at least 2 years.

It's interesting that most of us are tech related professions. I guess that isn't surprising as most early adopters are.

I'm an attorney with (apparently) a law degree, a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, and a masters degree in business.

How true!!

I'm not in tech right now, but i will be hopefully in about 6 months when i get out of the navy. Funny thing is, they navy likes to tout it's nuclear power program as being high tech, which is sorta true.......if it were still 1955.

I worked as a ChemE for several years before going into the MBA program and then law school. You'll find that since engineeing and law are both problem-solving disciplines, your engineeiring degree will prepare you well for law school...so, go for it :)

Software engineer (ie code monkey) for around 12 yrs now.

Cut my teeth on power builder. Then I did my stint with visual basic 6 and asp. Now i'm doing mostly asp.net with vb.net (architecture type stuff) but I love C# so all my home projects (web photo app, tivo like app, etc) are c#. I also do quite a bit of database stuff sqlserver, oracle, some ms access at home.

My dream would be to win the lottery so I could quit my job and take a few years off and learn game development.

Oh well these web/business and database apps put food on the table and games in my systems.

I just hope all these programming jobs don't go to India.

Maybe we're lucky for not winning.... Nah!

"The wife of the lottery winner who took home the richest undivided jackpot in U.S. history says she regrets his purchase of the $314.9 million ticket that has thrust her family into the public spotlight."
