Hi Everyone,

I just received my 2005FPW, I can't wait to get home and hook it up. But I have a question about dead pixels. This is my first ever LCD and I have no idea on what I should be looking for or how I can tell if they are dead. Hopefully there won't be any, but just in case I need to know. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum, jsalvador24 :)

The one's you can actually see (there are some that you can't see) will look like very small dark dots on a light background or light spots on a dark background. You can run a pixel test using the MonitorsDirect Calibrator on this page (http://www.monitorsdirect.com/toolkit/index.shtml) which will find all of the dead/stuck/fixed pixels, visible and invisible. Dell's dead pixel policy is here (http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kb/en/document?dn=1018431)...its a basically a guideline Dell uses for determining whether you can return it for too many dead pixels...having more than 5 is generally the threshold. Most importantly, you have a period (I think its 21 days from shipping) in which you can return the monitor for any reason. So, as a rule fo thumb, if there is something wrong with the panel that you can't live with, return/replace it within the return period.

Congrats on your new panel and let us know what you think.
