Just joined the group and could not wait to post my latest deal.

Refurb 2001FP from DELL Outlet at $798 - $75 refurb discount - 5% DPA discount. Add to that NO SHIPPING and NO TAXES, for a sweet total of $686.85 per monitor. Just ordered two! Now anxiously awaiting the arrival of dead pixels...

Here is a bit of info I found out on the 90-day warranty: I called the 800 number to obtain info on the extended warranty purchase. First guy I talked to said it was handled by their Ext Warranty Dept and that I would be able to purchase one there. So he transferred my call. The lady there checked and told me that the extended warranty DID NOT apply to LCD MONITORS but only to LCD TVs. So there is no extended option available for refurbs - bummer!

By opting for the DELL DPA card for the purchase, I gave up on the doubled warranty option w/ my card. But could not resist another $72 discount for two monitors. If I end up with many dead pixels, I will return and get a new one with my old card for the doubled warranty. We'll see.

Also, a friend just bought two new 2001FPs and he is using it on Chaintech geFX5600 card with one DVI and one VGA outputs. I had read in a review that the monitor behaved funny when hooked to a VGA output on a video card. It exhibited wavy motions on the screen. Happy to inform that, at least with my friend's mons, there is no such effect. As a matter of fact, images are so crisp and clear he keeps calling me every day for the past week and telling me what a great pair of mons he got.

Hope I will be as lucky with my pair.

Don't forget to count the dead pixels!!! especially the green sub-pixels.

Remember 2 dead pixels is acceptable!

Welcome, TG-

That's a great deal. If I could justify it, I'd jump on another 2001FP but I just don't need it. Anyway, happy gaming, viewing, and everything else with your new monitor.

BTW, where do you live for the "no taxes" deal?

Sorry for late reply. I was on a bus. trip.
I live in Atlanta,GA. Dell site lists states where taxes are collected, and GA was not on the list.

For those of you who own a 2001FP already - can this monitor be rotated in both left and right directions( clockwise and counterclockwise) ?

Because the bottom bezel is thicker than the top one, I am interested in placing the two tops of the monitors adjacent to each other in 90 deg rotated fashion. In other words, the two tops will form a vertical line in the middle. This will enable me to use it in 1200x1600 mode and get 2400 across and 1600 down.

They can only be rotated 90 degrees clockwise.
