Nokia 770 Internet Tablet Announced

The cell-phone giant, Nokia, has announced the 770 Internet Tablet marking its first move outside the voice wireless category. Estimated launch is Q3 of 2005. The specs include:

-Weight 230 grams
-Dimensions 141 x 79 x 19mm
-800x480 65k color screen
-64MB of DDR RAM
-128MB of Flash RAM
-64MB RS-MMC Card
-Bluetooth and WiFi
-220mhz ARM9 processor
-Internet Tablet 2005 Software Edition
-3 hour browsing battery life

This is one strange device. Who wants proprietary file formats with only 3 hours of battery life browsing over Wi-FI, when you can get a smartphone or Windows Mobile device. Moreover if you want more functionality you can get a Windows Tablet PC, which lets you run all your PC work applications. Strange indeed. It will eventually support VOIP and instant messenging in 2006 through a software upgrade.
