Nintendo Revolution Details

Trying to steal some thunder from the Xbox 360 marketing barrage, Nintendo was quoted in a New York Times article saying the Revolution will be sleek (no taller than 3 DVD cases), include a wireless controller, have backward compatibility to the Gamecube, online play emphasis, HD graphics, and even *gasp* play DVDs. Sounds like it's going to look like a slim-line PS2 doesn't it?

Perrin Kaplan, Nintendo's vice president for corporate affairs, said GameCube's successor would be "very, very sleek." She described it as horizontal and no taller than a stack of three DVD cases. Unlike GameCube, the new system will play DVD's, Ms. Kaplin said, and will feature a wireless controller. It will play GameCube games as well as a new class of high-definition games, with new emphasis on online play.

*Update* - Nintendo pretty much reiterated what was said in the article on their website, plus full wireless internet ready out of the box, quick startup, and low power/quiet operation.
