Nintendo E3 Details

Amid the spotlight of Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 supernovas, one can easily overlook Nintendo these days. According to GamesIndustry.biz, Nintendo will not show much detail on their next-generation console, Revolution, other than some video footage. That means no hardware, no specs. The company will focus on its handheld line, even offering an update to the old GBA. Unfortunately it will not be GBA2, but a minor feature update that might add wireless networking and some storage medium for downloading content.

Nintendo is really in dire straits as many developers are not going to make games for Revolution in the next cycle. I really thought they should of just made a portable Gamecube, which would of jump-started 3rd party software development. But rather they made the Nintendo DS which has some neat features, but graphically isn't much of a jump beyond the old GBA. Now it looks like GBA2 isn't going to be released anytime soon either. Poor Mario.

The new GBA, however, is categorically not the "GBA2", Nintendo's genuine next-generation handheld console. The system is expected to be an update to the existing GBA hardware, perhaps sporting built-in wireless networking and the Play-Yan adapter for playing downloadable games and videos, both of which have up until now been separate components.
