Advance Wars DS Preview
One of the best games in the past few years was the original Advance Wars. I can remember plenty a sleepless night and long plane ride playing this classic turned-based game. Now Nintendo has unveiled Advance Wars DS in the latest issue of Nintendo Power.New modes include a survival mode, new weapons, 2 commanding officers at a time, and a real-time strategy Combat mode. Can you imagine wireless multi-player real-time Advance Wars? Pure gaming bliss.
The other new mode, and perhaps the most surprising/exciting, is called Combat Mode. In Combat Mode, you'll purchase troops and even your CO and then place them on the battlefield and control them - in real time! Unit movement will be handled by using the control pad and attacking will be done by touching enemies with the stylus. This should make real time strategy fans very happy, and assuming there's a wireless multiplayer Combat Mode, will make AW DS one of, if not the first, DS multiplayer RTSes.
