eBay Buys Rent.com for $415 Million

eBay announced on Friday, it is buying Rent.com for $415 million in stock and cash. Rent.com was launched in 2001 and matched landlords with prospective renters. The site received a commission for each lease signing that was result of the free property listings. The company expects 2004 revenue of $40 million and is profitable.

It sure makes me wonder why I didn't load up on Rent.com, Car.com, Business.com, and Sex.com, when I could of bought those domain names back in the 1990s and made a fortune. I still remember playing around with the first version of Netscape and thinking this "internet thing" is going to be big.
