Seagate Hard Drive Warranty Explanation

The Tech-Report has the scoop on Seagate hard-drive warranties. Basically consumers get a five year warranty from the date Seagate ships the drive from their factory and maybe a few additional months to allow the it to work itself through the channel. Hard-drives sold inside a computer are the responsibility of the computer system manufacturer. OEM hard-drives resold individually do not have warranties as they are considered "grey market" products.
