Panasonic Announces 3 Megapixel Camera Module for Cellphones

Panasonic, a subsidiary of Matsushita, announced a line of digital camera modules for mobile phones. The new 3, 2, and 1.3 megapixel modules use the latest Maicovicon camera sensors, auto-focus, and image stabilization technology. Panasonic also says at 8.63mm these sensors are the thinnest in the world. Moreover they can capture video at 30 frames per second. The company expects volume production of the 3 and 2 megapixel modules in March 2005.
