America Online to Split Into 4 Units

AOL new CEO is taking the reins can restructuring the company by firing three senior executives, cutting 700 jobs, and splitting the company into four divisions. The division are Access (ISP, broadband), AOL Europe, Audience (selling ads), and Digital Services (VOIP, music sales). AOL is in dire straights as it lost 2 million subscribers in the past year, down to 22.7 million. As everyone moves to broadband, there is no point to stay on AOL. People are realizing paying $22 a month is a rip-off just to keep an old email address. The recent deal to include McAfee anti-virus software for free is a sign of things to come, but it’s too little too late. AOL die in peace. Read
