PalmOne No Palm OS Cobalt Devices till 2006?

PalmOne's president has gone on record saying the company would not commit to releasing Palm OS Cobalt devices in 2005. "Nobody knows when we'll start the shift to Cobalt, OS 6, or on which devices," Mr. Colligan said. "For now, we're saying that we've built the functionality we need into the Treo and the Tungsten T5 and there's no need to confuse developers by switching. I'm not even prepared to commit us to a change next year, or the year after, at this stage." This is truly a bummer for Palm PDA fans. It looks like PalmOne is focusing on the Treo line of smart phones and doesn't care about the latest and greatest operating system. Moreover it adds fuel to the fire that PalmOne may switch to Windows Mobile OS next year. It's pretty pathetic that we haven't seen any Cobalt devices yet since the OS was released at the beginning of 2004. Do device makers not like Cobalt? Read
