Spitzer Nails eBay False Bidders

I have to hand it to Eliot Spitzer. He is going to be governor of New York some day for his efforts in bringing down mutual funds, insurance companies, and investment banks. And now he just nailed a bunch of eBay scammers who used falsified bids to jack up prices. One buyer, Brad Clarke, 48, of Peachtree City, Ga., already has received a check for $3,089 after overpaying for a 1999 Jeep Cherokee sport utility vehicle he bought on eBay from a New York seller in 2002. Eight eBay sellers will pay $90,000 in fines after they admitted bidding up prices. Three sellers allegedly made 610 bids in 106 car auctions.
